Speaking of competitions, here are a few tips we've gathered from our own comping experiences.- If you use pre-printed address labels for your entries make sure you apply them at an angle. Postcode readers scan from left to right reading the first postcode they come to. Applying the labels at an angle should ensure your entries don't get sent back to you.
- The automatic reading equipment cannot read print on a red background (paper or card). If you do you use red stationery use a white label for the address. (All cheap-postcards.co.uk cards are printed on white/cream card)
- Royal Mail use automatic feeders for mail sorting. Irregular shaped/flimsy postcards can get stuck or fall out of the feeders causing your post to be delayed or even lost.
- Many postal competitions are now handled by companies who specialise in organising prize draws. These companies use P.O Box addresses to collect entries. The boxes are normally only emptied on weekdays so do make sure your entry gets there by Friday if the comp closes over a weekend or you may miss the closing date!
- With the ever increasing popularity of the internet more and more comps are available to enter online. Whilst this saves on postage costs the chances of winning are far fewer. As postcard competitions involve more effort less people enter giving a greater chance of winning. So our final piece of advice would be enter as many postcard competitions as you can and wait for postie to knock at your door with all your wonderful prizes!
